The culture behind the style

This "Selva" pattern is inspired by the rainforests throughout Peru - Selva means jungle in Spanish. The Shipibo is an ancient community from the Peruvian Amazon whose designs are considered visual songs reflecting their culture & cosmology. They believe a healthy life is achievable when one is in harmony with nature & the universe. This is reflected in their beautiful, intricate designs seen in their pottery, clothing, textiles and bodies. Two sisters from Peru at Paco & Lucia design & make these beautiful creations.

People can wear this cool piece around their neck too. One of our people has been seen wearing this as a bandana, headband, around a ponytail or bun, on a wrist, as a belt, tied around her handbag - twinning with her dogs!

Extreme Design & Construction Details

This piece has 2 separate fabric pieces, so it is actually a "double bandana". Along the bottom edges is a pretty pearl overlock stitch that creates a sturdy edge less prone to fraying.

Across the top of the bandana is a French stitch that overlocks the 2 pieces, which are then top stitched on each side to match the pearl overlock color.

Content & Care: 50% Cotton/50% Polyester. Machine wash cold. Machine wash dry low or air dry flat.
